ART INSTRUCTOR

My name is Rosalynne Mullin. I am the owner of Milezero Academy. It has been a dream of mine to  add an Art Studio since opening the Academy. Creativity has been a huge part of my foundation in establishing my business. Although I don’t allow much time these days for painting and drawing, I find my outlet now in business creation. It has been a foundational importance in my life, and I hope to create that same foundation for others  in this community.

HISTORY: I actually didn’t know I could draw until grade 10. At an early age I had compared my drawing abilities to others. Those who could pick up a pencil and draw from imagination. I could not, and figured I couldn’t draw. It wasn’t until my first art class in highschool, that  I actually found out where my creative abilities were. I eventually went to University and studied Art at Trinity Western and Kwantlen before moving to Dawson Creek.

PASSION: I am the most passionate about drawing / painting from inspirations around me, whether it’s portraits, wildlife, nature etc. A lot of my experience is with realism and still-lifes, mastering shadows, highlights, shading etc.

GOAL: Watching children’s individual artistic expression bloom from their own exploration.

My name is Amanda Fossum - I’m a dog nerd, lover of all the creative things, and wish I could live in Disneyland. I’m a Dawson Creek local and live out in some magical woods west of town with my husband, two daughters, and 5 dogs. Art has gone from the thing I did when I had spare time; to the thing I do before housework and “adulting.” And always with a dog or two in tow.

HISTORY: From an early age I was always drawing. I was the kid who packed a sketchbook and pencils along to many places and fought over for Pictionary teams. Although not professionally trained, I have taken many courses throughout my lifetime to hone my skills and remain an eternal student. Over the past year I have participated in local events like Battle of the Brushes, having my art hung in the gallery, creating a piece for the local art auction, as well as participating in our community’s art walk. In fall of 2023 I started teaching kids art classes through the art gallery then moving it over to my personal studio for the winter of 2024.

PASSION: Although I started with a pencil and a book, that has evolved into watercolour and acrylic mediums, I’d say my passion is teaching. I love that there’s “rules” to art and yet there’s loads of opportunity for an individual’s style to come through. Helping students navigate the art process - which is a rollercoaster - is a necessary support young children need to not give up their art practice.

GOAL:  Help children build their own style and confidence so they grow into adults with the gift of art.

She also taught in India, South Korea, and Dongguan, China. After so much travelling Ale is very happy to be rooted in Canada with Graham, and their sweet dog Violet. Alejandra, Graham, and Violet spent 2 years in Chetwynd and fell in love with this beautiful Northern countryside Canadian town. Even though she misses her Venezuelan family she is grateful to have Graham’s family and her local friends be her adopted family. Ms. Ale is excited and ready to help young children in their education and holistic development. In her free time Ale enjoys hiking, camping, doing yoga and pilates, reading, cross stitching and all sorts of arts and crafts.

I am Miss Alex! This is my third year working in a preschool setting and I have recently graduated from Northern Lights College as an Early Child Educator. I am thrilled to have the chance to get to know and work alongside your children! A little about me: I am a mom of
three boys and we love to stay busy in our little community. We spend as much time as we can adventuring outdoors in the summer, but you will catch us living in the hockey rinks all winter long!

I'm a cheerful and positive person who loves music, singing, and playing instruments. I also enjoy reading books about the mind, practicing the law of attraction, and learning about quantum physics.  Taking walks, caring for myself and others, and making people happy are some of my favourite things to do. Children are incredibly important to me; I feel fulfilled when I hear their voices and see their choices respected. I truly believe that children are the future, and as educators and parents, we have a vital role in shaping their lives. I have plenty of patience and understand the needs of children well. My positivity helps me turn negative situations into positive ones, especially when working with children.
